More than 40 diverse stakeholders have joined our MOVE BEND coalition to work together on Bend’s transportation challenges. Representatives include the business community, government agencies, non-profits and neighborhood associations.

Our website, www.movebend.org, explains that the coalition is committed to developing and supporting solutions to Bend’s transportation challenges. Coalition member believe:

  • Bend’s transportation system must be improved to provide better connectivity and accessibility for residents, visitors and commerce.
  • Creating more efficient road, transit, biking, and walking options, as well as innovative transportation strategies, are key components to managing Bend’s growth.
  • Funding for long-term growth and maintenance of the transportation system must be identified and secured.

Move Bend has launched a community education effort about transportation, with a robust website and a social media outreach campaign. We’re partnering with Building a Better Bend on a four-part lecture series, bringing world-class experts to Bend for presentations on transportation innovations, and sharing the experiences of other communities.   And we’re working with our government partners to help facilitate input from the community into their planning processes.

Our program activities are rooted in the belief that informed and engaged citizens enrich the planning process and lead to better outcomes. Our community education and citizen engagement efforts are designed to help government make choices and set priorities with a rich perspective on the wants and needs of the people it serves.
